The New Natural Wonders of the World

New Natural Wonders: Halong Bay

Organizers of the competition to name the “New 7 Natural Wonders of the World” have narrowed down the choices to 28 finalists, after considering 77 sites (from an original list of more than 250 candidates) that received the most votes in a global poll. Winners of the three-year contest are expected to be announced in 2011.

Halong Bay in Vietnam is known for the limestone monolithic islands located in the bay. Many of the nearly 2,000 islands are hollow, with enormous caves and grottos.
